Paperless: Digital Drawing Tools for Artists on the Go
In 2009, I wrote a post about my search for a digital tablet that I could use as a replacement for my sketchbook and notebook. I’ve been an advocate for tablet devices as artistic tools for many years. Mainstream business culture is waking up to the potential that ultra-portable tablets like iPad and Android tablets have as work devices. We are spoiled for choice of Office-compatible apps and suites, email clients, file sharing… everything you need for a day away from the desktop. For us visual types, there are even…

Small bits of Fantasy and SciFi
Asimov’s and Sci Fi magazines are a great inspiration to me and my artwork. A collection of 6 or so short sci fi and fantasy related stories are held in a $10 book. Tenacity
I haven’t had the easiest time getting to the place I’m at now in terms of job security and financial happiness as an artist. Made to Order
With all the ability of creating 3D objects, there has been a catch-up phase for creating physical copies of these pixel-born objects. That catch-up is happening now, and is happening quickly. One can now print in almost any material, ranging from metals and plastics, to porcelain, glass, and even food such as cheese or sugar. Notable milestones as of late are the Nike 3D printed shoe, the Vapor Laser Talon. The shoe was 3D printed to escape the constraints of conventional manufacturing. I would liken it to an organic object growing to…

We Have Something, Have We Not?
With the opening of the Pie Spot just a few weeks ago at the Ocean complex, I’ve completed principle photography on the documentary short I’ve been working on. Now I need to cut the thing together. Oy. I’m totally guessing, but I think we’re up there in the shooting ratio of 80:1. The idea for the short is to use it as a promotional piece to garner funding for a feature length cut, but we want to have enough in the can to make a fuller version should that rainbow…
